CEBU Philippines Project

The Philippines ranked fourth among nine nations with children involved in Sex trafficking. The Province of Cebu, is the most densely populated island in the country and Cebu City is the second most significant urban center in the Philippines and has successfully promoted the region as a tourist destination where one can mix business with pleasure and is considered as one of the top five areas for child prostitution and sex tourism. Cebu City has become the destination point of internal and domestic trafficking of an estimated 60,000 to 100,000 children as young as 11 to 17 years old enslaved.

We have a property a few hours outside of Cebu City in a safe rural location that we will be breaking ground on very soon! Our plans include a refuge house and sustainable livlihood community that will accomodate 30 victims of trafficking!

This facility will be a place of refuge, restoration, healing and hope! We believe that these victims deserve a safe, inspiring environment where they can thrive. The program will include a sustainable livlihood community providing formal education and a Sewing school where they will be able to explore their creativity.

Sewing Rainbows believes that beyond providing refuge, restoration, and sustainability skills that it is crucial for hope to inspire dreams.  Our model fosters a philosophy that values each persons unique talents and gifts and provides innovative, high quality services that meet individual needs and aspirations in a person centred way. When we provide empowerment and opportunity to each person, we are equipping them to become leaders in their community. Its not just about rehabilitating the victims but changing communities. Its about shifting an entire culture of beliefs from survive to thrive.

  • Promote healing & hope through redefining love, faith, and self acceptance

  • Enable victims to realize their dreams and equip them to achieve their goals and aspirations

  • Empower people to have positive beliefs about themselves

  • Recognise and build upon their personal resources, strengths and abilities

  • Gain confidence, life skills and independence

  • Inspire understanding of their self worth & value to their community

  • Protect vulnerable people from harm and abuse

  • Increase acceptance and understanding in their communities and assist them to make a positive contribution to these communities

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us.We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?Actually, who are we not to be?You are a child of God.Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others."
